Case Studies
We are honored to feature the work of select customers, with permission, to illustrate the process of translating fine art into wallpaper + textiles.
The Gardiner House, Newport, Rhode Island
The storied Cushing family of Newport, RI, entrusted twenty2 with the considerable task of re-creating and expanding a hand-painted mural from the Gilded Age to grace the foyer + staircase of the newly built Gardiner House hotel in Newport. As the hotel lobby is much larger than the parlor where the mural was originally painted, our Design team relied upon both hand painting and digital techniques to greatly expand the mural, building out the layout and creating entirely new elements emulating the original hand of the artist and enhancing the interior architecture of the new hotel. Months of iteration led to the final layout of this vast 2-story mural.
Ron Norsworthy for United Airlines
Fine artist Ron Norsworthy tapped twenty2 to realize his concept for a custom ceiling mural in the United Club at Newark Airport. He envisioned a celestial, gilded ceiling, inspired by the iconic skyscape at Grand Central Station. Our team iterated over a period of a year to bring his artistry to life.
Alexa Hampton's Personal Home
The iconic Alexa Hampton asked twenty2 to reimagine a vintage suzani textile to be used as custom textile for her own home. twenty2 digitized the original textile, created a repeating pattern and digitally printed the custom pattern on heavyweight Belgian linen, which she used to reupholster a sofa in her living room.
John Robshaw, Hamptons Designer Showhouse
Beloved for his lush, globally-inspired aesthetic, John brings a vibrant sense of adventure to his work. We loved collaborating with John on this tearoom-inspired bedroom for his Hamptons Designer Showhouse room, along with designer Sara Bengur. A hand painted Indian folk art mural, digitized and scaled to fit the room, created a stunning backdrop for this joyful, colorful project.
Caitlin McGauley, Mural at 35 Hudson Yards in New York City
Known for her punchy, cheerful watercolor style, Caitlin’s work is perfectly suited for wallpaper. We revel in finding ways to bring her watercolors to life. What started as a hand-painted mural was transformed into a full-scale fanciful jungle scene for a playroom at 35 Hudson Yards in New York City.
Candice Kaye Design, Papi Steak Restaurant, Miami
Trained as a textile designer, Candice is widely known for her sumptuous bespoke wallpaper that graces the walls of over twenty-six restaurants and spaces throughout North America. We relished the opportunity to translate Candice’s fine art into dazzling wall candy for Papi Steak, a stylish, trendy restaurant in Miami, Florida.

A multidisciplinary artist, Derrick Adams is a performance, video, and sound artist, as well as a painter and sculptor. We were honored to print the custom wallpaper that functioned as the backdrop for Derrick’s Deconstruction Worker collaged portraits, exhibited at the renowned New York City-based gallery Luxembourg & Dayan.
