Emily Powers

Emily graduated with a BA in Art from the University of New Haven in 2019. She primarily paints with acrylic paint and has found plexiglass to be her preferred canvas. She is intrigued by how light affects her paintings, and has experimented with color-shifting paint, top coats, and mica powder, to capture the luminescent qualities of her subject matter which most often include iridescent butterflies and beetles. In the past couple years, she has begun working digitally on Procreate and enjoys creating fantasy-esque flowers based on reference photos taken while under UV light, as the different light can drastically change the appearance of the flower.
